The University of Louisiana at Monroe is hosting a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital speaker at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, in ULM’s Brown Auditorium. ULM’s fundraising organization for St. Jude, Up ‘Til Dawn, is sponsoring the event. Admission is free.
Patient Corbin and his mother, Heather, will speak about their experiences with the research hospital in Memphis, internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
It is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute and the only pediatric cancer research center to treat patients even when the family is not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.
