MONROE, La. – The University of Louisiana Monroe is adding three bachelor’s degree programs to its catalog beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. The new degrees include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science in Disaster Management.
“Our responsibility as an institution is to ensure that students in Northeast Louisiana have access to the highest quality educational opportunities right here in their own region,” said ULM President Dr. Carrie L. Castille. “These programs are designed to cultivate talent, expand career pathways, and empower students to build a brighter future for themselves and for the communities they call home.”
The new B.A.S. in Organizational Leadership is designed to equip leaders and supervisors with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s diverse and technologically advanced society. Building upon an Associate of Applied Science degree, the B.A.S. enhances workplace competencies and provides the knowledge needed to move into leadership roles within a flexible 2-year program. The program offers a choice of five in-demand concentrations tailored to industry needs, including Communication, Training and Development, Computer Systems, Criminal Justice, and Management.
The B.S. in Integrative Sciences is designed to prepare students for careers in today’s interdisciplinary scientific landscape. The program will equip graduates with the depth of knowledge and adaptability needed for careers in industry, government, and research. Currently available concentration areas include Biomedical Sciences, ideal for careers in healthcare, research, and biotechnology, and Earth System Sciences, which is suited for careers in environmental agencies, meteorology, and sustainability fields. Additional concentrations are being created and will be added to the program.
The B.S. in Disaster Management is designed to prepare students to develop and implement policies, procedures, and activities that enable communities and institutions to remain prepared, respond effectively, and recover efficiently in the event of natural, technological, or human-caused disasters. The program is referred to as “DR3” because Disaster Management involves three distinct characteristics: Readiness, Response, and Recovery. The College of Business and Social Sciences is hopeful that the program can grow graduates who stay in Louisiana, a state that has a history of experiencing natural disasters, including tornadoes and hurricanes, as well as technological and industrial failures such as chemical and oil spills.
“Each of these new programs has been tailored to prepare students to make a real-world impact after graduation,” said Dr. Michelle McEacharn, ULM Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “It is important that we continue to grow and adapt to the needs of today’s workforce. We are proud to add these new degree paths that will allow students the opportunity to use what they’ve learned here in Louisiana.”
The three new degree programs are now accepting students and will begin in Fall 2026.
