A degree in Management can open many different doors. Graduates have obtained jobs in business, government, non-profit, and environmental companies, as well as started their own product and services companies. Many different positions a Management graduate can work towards include numerous occupations with median incomes near or exceeding $100,000. The courses you take throughout your program are designed to provide you with the various leadership, accounting, finance, problem solving, communications, operational, and analytics tools that you will need to succeed in your career.
The Management Program at ULM has been carefully structured to provide students with knowledge that balances their need for general education with their need for more specialized professional education. Students are given the opportunity for hands-on experience in the management field, which gives students a chance to meet and work with local managers, gain vital work experience, develop their managerial skills, and make important contacts for future jobs.

Today, more and more companies give preferential hiring treatment toward applicants that have had one or more internships. The Management program faculty are continually seeking these opportunities for their students and many of our past and present students have had wonderful opportunities! We also work very closely with the University’s Career Center in assisting students with landing internships, part-time, and full-time positions.

A hallmark of our program faculty is that the professors and instructors possess significant business experience outside of academics. Our faculty have held positions such as CEO of a hospital group, an overseas manager of a manufacturing plant, HR management, ownership of a planning and consulting business, asset liability management, to mention a few. Our faculty bring these experiences into the classroom, as well as bringing in outside business professionals to augment classes.
The Management program hosts numerous alumni events each year, including networking receptions, faculty lectures and family events.
Many different positions exist for a Management graduate and might include:
- Business Systems Executive
In addition to the general educational requirements (English, Math, Sciences, Humanities, etc.) and general business class requirements (Accounting, Finance, Business Law, International Business, Business Communication, etc.), our Management students will complete courses in Human Resources (Human Capital), Leadership, Operations, Organizational Behavior, and Entrepreneurship. Additionally, students will complete an interactive, “hands-on” course entitled, “Management in Practice.” Elective courses might include Sustainability Management, Staffing, and Training and Development, to mention a few.
We try to continually engage our students outside of the classroom. In addition to working with students regarding internships, the program sponsors a student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. Business and HR leaders from the area come and visit with our students and will develop job shadowing and mock interview programs to benefit the students.
