The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host its annual United Way Campus Campaign Kickoff event from 12:30-1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in The Quad, located behind the Student Center. Guest speakers include representatives from the United Way, recipients of United Way programs, and employees with the university.

An ice cream social will follow the presentation.

Michael Davis, assistant director for housing operations and co-chair of ULM’s United Way campaign, said, “ULM is very proud to conduct this campaign for United Way in conjunction with other organizations in the twin cities. This campus campaign affirms ULM’s commitment to the community. This is one of the largest services ULM provides to our area each year.”

ULM’s 2013 campaign brought in over $32,000.

ULM United Way cabinet members have established a goal of increasing the university’s giving by 10 percent, and hope to have a 42 percent employee participation rate in 2014. The campaign will run from Oct. 28 through Nov. 14.

The dollars raised through the ULM United Way Campaign will benefit local agencies, including YMCA, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, ARCO, the Council on Aging, and Rays of Sunshine.

The 2014 ULM campaign cabinet includes Co-chair Michael Davis, Co-chair Kelli Cole, and committee members Lindsey Wilkerson, Paula Thornhill, Hunter Harris, Fred Baragona, Melinda Mitchell, Chrystal Woodard, Lillian Brown, Kevin Price, Patricia Tolar, Chris Ringo, Mary Adams, Lisa Seymour, John Anderson, Scot Humes, Melissa Melancon, Bill McCown, Cindy Strickler, Aimee Galick, Connie Lewis, and Ruthie Sampson.

ULM’s donors will be eligible for incentives including Wine over Water tickets, Skybox Tickets to the ULM vs. ULL football game, general admission tickets and a grove spot with two parking passes to the ULM vs. ULL football game, ULM memorabilia from the bookstore, and much more.
