ULM Sigma Delta Pi initiates nine new members

The School of Humanities and Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi recently initiated nine new members. Sigma Delta Pi is the national honor society in Spanish and was founded in 1919. The ULM chapter initiated its first members in 1976. 

The ceremony was conducted by Madeline Webb, president, with help from Iren Marinova, vice president, Kady Coulon, secretary and Yoximar Araujo and Sarah Harris. 

The new initiates are Tyler Aulds, Accounting major from West Monroe; Danielle Crawford, Kinesiology major from Monroe; Kylie Kukowski, Spanish education major from Grand Rapids, Michigan; Long Ly, Monroe biology student; Allison Ogden, Spanish education major from Crowville; Abigayle Reed, Communication major from Bastrop; Ethan Sims, Psychology and Modern Language major from Calhoun; Ben Thoms, Spanish major from West Monroe; and Mary Wyatt, Speech Language Pathology major from Ball. 

Members must have completed a course in Spanish culture and civilization or literature or have studied abroad. They must also have at least a 3.2 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in Spanish.
