MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana Monroe Educators Rising program and the School of Education are proud to host the Louisiana Educators Rising State Conference on February 29, 2024. The conference is anticipated to host 700 attendees including participants, presenters, competition judges, and volunteers. The theme of the 2024 state conference is “Discover Your Legacy.” The Educators Rising State Conference committee is currently accepting session proposals and competition registrations through January 19, 2024.

Categories for proposals include conference presentations, panels, interactive workshops, poster showcases, interactive bulletin boards, and/or teaching/learning as art. Current educators, school counselors, and leaders in middle school, high school, college, and district/state departments are invited to submit proposals. The deadline for session proposals is January 19, 2024. Visit ulm.edu/edulead for more information about how to submit a proposal.

The conference will also feature competitions throughout the day that include topics such as Children’s Literature, Interactive Bulletin Boards, Public Speaking, Impromptu Speaking and more. All competitors must be active-level members of the Educators Rising national organization. Visit ulm.edu/edulead to register and learn more about each competition. The deadline for competition registration is January 19, 2024.

Dr. Amy Weems is an Assistant Professor of Education at ULM and the Director of the ULM Educators Rising Program. “We are so excited for aspiring educators and educational leaders from across the state to experience a day with us on the bayou at ULM,” said Weems. “This pre-educator network has grown exponentially in Louisiana over the past six years, and we are one of the leading states in the country in program enrollment and innovative initiatives to grow our own future educators,” she added.

The conference will also feature a welcome from ULM President Ron Berry and Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis. An additional highlight of the conference will be keynote presentations from the 2024 Louisiana Excellent Educators, including Teacher of the Year Kylie Altier, Principal of the Year Tia Trahan, and New Teacher of the Year Phoenix LeBlanc.

Since the conference is being held on Leap Day, February 29, Weems says the committee is encouraging attendees to wear their most fun shoes for leaping and exploring the campus.

All conference details and registration links can be found at ulm.edu/edulead. Regular registration will be open through February 1, 2024.
