MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana Monroe was represented at the University of Louisiana System 9th Annual Academic Summit by 10 student presenters, five of which presented their research in visual arts.

Lemon Burnside, Kassidy Greer, Haley Wiley, Jansyn Jenkins, and Nova Honeycutt presented works of art that represented their artistic research in painting, ceramics, and sculpture. A reception was held on Thursday, April 11 with all nine of the UL System universities represented. Each presenting student was awarded a medal for the presentation of their research.

“So many representatives from other universities were engaged with our student artwork that I stayed an hour after the reception ended discussing research, technology, and student engagement in artistic pursuits. It was a great event,” said Megan Smith, ULM Art Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor.

Several of the featured works are available for viewing at the ULM Juried Student Art Exhibition, which is currently on display in Bry Gallery, 4101 Desiard St., through Friday, May 3. Hours for Bry Gallery are Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
