Winter Closure

MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana Monroe campus will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan. 17 due to the latest inclement winter weather forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Schulze Dining Hall will be open with limited hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 – Wednesday, Jan. 17. The ULM Activity Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, but will open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan. 17 for members only, no guests. The ULM Library, the HUB (including Starbucks), PODs, and the ULM Bookstore will be closed Monday through Wednesday and will resume regular hours on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The ULM Food Pantry located inside the Activity Center will be open on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Essential employees will be notified by their supervisors if they are to report to work.

Freezing rain and sleet on Monday paired with below-freezing temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will create hazardous driving conditions.

The greatest threat is icing on bridges and roadways with patches of black ice. Temperatures as low as around 17° Tuesday morning and 16° Wednesday creates the danger of wet roads freezing or refreezing.

The MLK Day of Service has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. in The Terrace (ULM Library, 7th floor), program beginning at 9:30 a.m., and reporting to sites 10-11 a.m.

The university will reopen Thursday, Jan. 18.

ULM will issue statements on the ULM Safe app (download at  App Store and Google Play), campuswide email, ulm.eduULM Facebook, Twitter @ulm_official, and Instagram @ulmonroe. Stay informed at 90.3 KEDMFacebook/National Weather Service Shreveport, and Twitter @NWSShreveport.
