MONROE, La. – The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) will host the 2025 Let Us Dream Community Conference at Bayou Pointe Event Center on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event will explore the theme of “Building Sustainable Communities Through Collaborative Approaches to Food Security and Nutrition.” ULM President Dr. Carrie L. Castille will deliver the keynote address at the conference. The conference is free and open to the public, but attendees are required to pre-register at ulm.edu/letusdream.
“The conference will spotlight successful models, innovative strategies, and grassroots efforts addressing food insecurity and promoting nutrition equity,” said Dr. Debra Craighead, Professor of Nursing at ULM and Let Us Dream Community Conference Chair.
The conference will feature panels focused on the social, educational, and health-related aspects of food security and nutrition. Local vendors will also be present with booths for attendees to visit during breaks. Additionally, the Let Us Dream organization will present its Change Maker Awards at the end of the conference. Attendees are invited to stay from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a networking session.
“Join us as we gather local leaders, nonprofits, educators, health professionals, students, and advocates to explore how collective action can improve food systems and enhance community well-being,” said Craighead.
