MONROE, La. – University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) President Dr. Carrie L. Castille is proud to announce that ULM Director of University Police Tom Torregrossa has been appointed as President of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police (LACP). Torregrossa is the first ULM Director of University Police to serve as president of the LACP, marking a significant milestone for both ULM and University Police.

“Director Torregrossa’s appointment as President of the LACP is not only a recognition of his many years of service and leadership, but also a reflection of ULM’s continued commitment to excellence, public service, and strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies across Louisiana,” said Castille. “Congratulations to Director Tom Torregrossa on his well-deserved honor and statewide leadership role.”

Director Torregrossa brings decades of law enforcement experience, leadership, and public service to this prestigious statewide role. Before joining ULM, Torregrossa served the Monroe community for 36 years with the Monroe Police Department. In 2015, he was appointed Director of University Police at ULM, where he has continued his commitment to protecting and serving the campus community.

Throughout his tenure at ULM, Director Torregrossa has worked to strengthen campus safety while building relationships with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and law enforcement professionals across Louisiana. In 2021, he was nominated as the Director of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine for his dedication to the safety and security of the entire ULM community.

As President of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police, Director Torregrossa will work alongside the organization’s Executive Committee, Executive Board, and the Executive Director to help advance professional development, education, and law enforcement training throughout Louisiana.

“Training is one of the best opportunities we have for growth,” said Torregrossa. “My passion will be focused on helping smaller agencies throughout the state and making sure they have access to the resources they need.”

Director Torregrossa’s commitment to ULM extends well beyond his role in University Police. He and his wife Katie are familiar faces at events throughout campus and are enthusiastic supporters of ULM athletics. In particular, they can almost always be found cheering on the ULM Warhawks softball team.
