ULM sets Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony for Nov. 6

MONROE, La. – The University of Louisiana Monroe’s annual Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, in The Terrace, on the 7th floor of the ULM Library.   

Students, faculty, and staff who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces or on active duty will be recognized at the ceremony. Veterans and active-duty members of the military are asked to register/RSVP by the end of the day on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at ulm.edu/omc/veteransday; click Veteran RSVP to register. Veterans in the community are invited to register and attend.  

As a special recognition this year, veterans will have the opportunity to receive the Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal, presented by the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.   

The Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal was created to recognize and thank Louisiana veterans for their honorable military service. Medals are available to all honorably discharged Louisiana veterans, and to the families of those Killed in Action. The Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal is available with a blue ribbon for honorable discharge; a purple ribbon for Purple Heart recipients; a black ribbon for Prisoners of War/Missing in Action; and a yellow ribbon for those Killed in Action.  

Participating veterans who wish to receive the Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal are asked to RSVP by October 23, 2026. The ULM Office of Veterans Affairs will assist veterans with the application process and will present the medals at the ceremony on November 6. RSVP at ulm.edu/omc/veteransday
