31 Ambassadors Mission Statement

logo

The 31 Ambassadors is a high profile, high-energy organization composed of ULM's finest students. 31 Ambassadors at ULM serve as the official host for alumni-related activities while sponsoring events aimed at increasing student awareness of ULM and our Alumni Association.

The 31 Ambassadors organization, known originally as NLU31, was formed in 1981 (during NLU's 50th anniversary) after several students and alumni recognized a special need to create an awareness of the activities and benefits provided through the NLU Alumni Association. Due to the fact Northeast Louisiana University was established in 1931, the charter members of the organization adopted the name "NLU31."

The 31 Ambassadors is sponsored by the ULM Alumni Association and is largely self-sustaining with additional funding coming from the generous contributions of benefactors and the ULM Alumni Association.

Events

31 Ambassadors host . . .

BIG SWITCH - The Big Switch is a project where students purchase a ticket in hopes of being able to switch places, during a four-hour period, with one of ULM's top administrators or teachers. During this four-hour period, roles are reversed between the administrator and the student. This event provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers, and administrators to gain insight into each other's daily routine.

CHILI COOK-OFF - The 31 Ambassadors sponsors the "Chili Cook-Off". The "Chili Cook-off" is held in "The Grove" tailgating area prior to one of the last home football games. Prizes are awarded for cooking and showmanship.

OOZEBALL - ULM's Spring Fever week ends on a Friday with Oozeball. This mud volleyball tournament is a ULM student favorite. Each year hundreds of ULM students and faculty spend the afternoon playing volleyball in the mud pits behind Warhawk Field.

SENIOR GRAD FINALE - All graduating seniors are invited in the fall and spring to Grad Finale – a one stop shop for all of your graduation needs. Hosted by the 31 Ambassadors, Grad Finale provides you the opportunity to purchase your Official ULM Class Ring, cap and gown, diploma frame, order your invitations, have your financial aid exit interview, talk to our Grad School, talk to our Small Business Development Center, have your senior portrait and a free alumni portrait taken, and more.

SOCIALS - Not only do we host socials for our members, we also invite other ULM groups to join us!
