Risk Management & Insurance

The Insurance program at ULM is one of only about 42 in the United States. Courses cover a broad range of insurance topics including Life Insurance, Commercial and Personal Property/Casualty, and Business Risk Management. Additionally, ULM offers two very unique courses: Insurance Accounting and Surplus Lines, and Reinsurance.

Class sizes in Insurance are relatively small, ensuring each student has the opportunity to seek and receive personal attention from his/her professor. Additionally, students have an Insurance advisor who sees them through their college experience, from deciding what elective courses to take all the way to helping them secure a suitable job as they near graduation.

Students also have opportunities to apply for numerous insurance scholarships, tour insurance companies, and take trips to industry conferences. In the last two years, students have attended conferences in Biloxi, New Orleans, Dallas and New York.
