Professor and Hanna Spyker Eminent Scholars Chair, College of Education and Human Development, and Hillary Stephenson, Ph.D., Distinguished Visiting Professor, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla gave the Plenary Address to the Third International Conference on Psychology, in Puebla, Mexico on November 19, 2011.Their talk was entitled "Circular Poetics and the Art of Creative Transformation."

..."One of the things we hope to gain by this partnership is that, because Japan is very good in math and science, we would like our students to go over there and learn about their teaching styles, their classroom management and the way their schools are run and lessons are taught," he [Dr. Sivakumaran] said. The agreement will involve two exchange opportunities, one that involves sending 10 to 15 students to the other university for two weeks while the other involves sending two students to the other university for one year. ..Dorothy Schween, department head for Curriculum and Instruction at ULM, touted the fact that ULM provides 77 percent of the teachers in the region."That tells you something about the quality of teachers we are turning out," she said. ULM was the only institution from Louisiana to be recognized in all four categories; faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, student engagement and accreditation, and admissions selectivity.

Dr. LemoineULM was recognized primarily for its master of arts in teaching degree program. “It is very exciting, and we do think it’s well deserved,” said Sandra Lemoine, Dean of ULM’s College of Education and Human Development. “These rankings show we are maintaining the integrity of our online programs by making sure each course that is put online is a quality product.”

- ULM’s grants and contracts approach $10 million during 2011; this represents a 5.2% increase over the previous year.
- ULM partners with Texas A&M University at Kingsville to train teachers in high-need, rural areas.
