Student Work Position Descriptions
The ULM University Computing Center is accepting requests for student employment for the upcoming semester. Four identified work positions include Call Center Operation, Technology Assistant, Lab Assistant, and General Worker.
Call Center Operation
Essential criteria

Students working in the Call Center need to have a good speaking voice since much of the customer interaction will be occurring over the phone. Operators need to be able to quickly take call and determine the nature of the problem as described by the Customer and then route the call to appropriate personnel who can intervene and address the problem. The Call Center Operators will be using specific software to help perform tasks and adeptly handle issues as they occur. Some ability to master software and web-based computer stations is essential.
Technical Assistant
Essential criteria

Technical Assistants may intervene in problem situation on behalf of the Helpdesk or under the direction of IT agents. They may be involved in setting up computer labs, performing software installations, or performing basic troubleshooting functions for student or faculty computer systems. Often basic technical tasks involving minimal assistance or direction can be handled by Technical Assistants.
Lab Assistant

Lab assistants work in computer labs to supervise operation, provide technical assistance, and ensure supplies are available and equipment is functioning. Acting as the primary caretakers for the computer lab, assistants coordinate with supervisors and other lab assistance to ensure that labs remain open, functional, and stocked. They work to communicate lab problems and issues to University Lab Staff for remedy.
General Worker

General Workers are essential components of the Computing Center operation. By performing many different jobs, general workers adapt to many roles and provide services which may vary from day to day.
