Honors Program

How to Apply to the Program

Incoming ULM freshmen are encouraged to prepare an application packet, based on Steps 1-5 listed below, if you:

  1. have a composite ACT score of 27 or above or an SAT (critical reading plus math) score of 1210 or above (these can be waived under special circumstances);
  2. write a minimum 250 word statement in which you discuss a life or intellectual experience that has influenced you and how knowledge of that experience could benefit the  Honors Program;
  3. provide three (3) letters of recommendation;
  4. provide an official copy of your High School transcript; and
  5. complete a Honors Program Application.

The Honors Program will also accept applications packets from current ULM freshmen or current ULM sophomores who have an ACT score of 25 or higher or an SAT (critical reading plus math) score of 1130 or higher.

ULM students who do not meet this requirement may be admitted provisionally if their grades and letter of recommendations are exemplary. Transfer students may be eligible for admission based on their grades and letter of recommendations.

Application packets are accepted anytime; however, to receive full consideration, secure honors housing, and qualify for University-wide priority scholarships incoming students should apply by December 15th. 

To receive full consideration and secure honors housing students should apply by April 1st.  Late applications will be accepted until prior to the fall semester.

If admitted to the Honors Program, there is a non-refundable admission fee of $30.00.
