Library Services to the Local Community
The University Library welcomes local
residents. Please stop by the Reference/Information Desk (to the right
as you enter the main lobby on the first floor) for floor maps or other
information concerning the library. Members of the public are welcome
to use the information resources available in the Library, including
online materials. In addition to books, periodicals, and other academic
materials collected for the specific benefit of the University students
and faculty, the University Library is a depository for United States
and State of Louisiana official publications. These public documents
are provided for the benefit of all citizens.
While children are welcome and encouraged to become regular library
users, children under the age of fourteen must be attended by a parent
or other responsible adult.
If you have Special Needs, you can learn more about our services for you
here.
Hours
The University Library’s hours vary according to the University’s
schedule. Visitors are advised to check the schedule of open days and
current hours posted on the Library homepage prior to travel. Please
note that the University Library is regularly closed on Friday
afternoons and all day on Saturdays.
Parking
Members of the public may park in any available parking areas except
those marked as reserved or handicapped spaces. There are parking
places adjacent to the Library along Northeast Drive, on the north side
of the building, and to the south in the Strauss Hall parking lot or on
the street.
Visitors must obtain a guest pass from University Police if on campus
for extended periods of time (over night or more than one day). The ULM
University Police Department is located a few blocks west of the
Library
at
605 North McGuire. For more detailed information concerning parking
regulations and permits, please visit
the University
Police Parking Enforcement page.
Internet Access
There are computers with access to the Internet located in the first
floor lobby and elsewhere throughout the University Library. Members of
the public are welcome to use these, though we ask that you limit your
time on the computers when the Library is busy and students may need to
utilize the computers. There are no printers available for public
use.
Borrowing Library Materials
To borrow materials from the University Library collections, you may
purchase either a “Friends of the ULM Library” or “Alumni Courtesy
Library” card. Friends of the ULM Library cards may be obtained through
the University Library Administration Office on the 4th floor of the
Library. Visit the ULM Alumni Center to purchase the Alumni card.
The Library may also be able to loan materials if you have a
Trailblazer card from your public library.
