Library Services to the Local Community

The University Library welcomes local residents. Please stop by the Reference Desk (to the left as you enter the main lobby on the first floor) for help. Books, periodicals, and other academic materials are collected for the specific benefit of the University students and faculty, but the University Library is a depository for United States and State of Louisiana official publications as well.

While children are welcome and encouraged to become regular library users, children under the age of fourteen must be attended by a parent or other responsible adult.

If you have Special Needs, you can learn more about our services for you here.

Hours

The University Library’s hours vary according to the University’s schedule. Check the schedule on the home page or the full schedule here prior to travel.

Parking

Members of the public may park in any available parking areas except those marked as reserved or handicapped spaces, or those reserved for faculty, which have red curbs or lines. There are parking places adjacent to the Library, on the north side of the building, and near the SUB.

Visitors must obtain a guest pass from University Police if on campus for extended periods of time (over night or more than one day). For more detailed information concerning parking regulations and permits, please visit the University Police Parking page.

Internet Access

There are some computers with access to the Internet in the first floor lobby and throughout the library which visitors are welcome to use. Visitors cannot use the comptuers in the computer lab, however, as they require a student password. There are no printers available for visitors. Users with laptops can use our "guest" wireless network.
