The Master of Arts (MA) in History (non-thesis) offers a 30 hour online graduate curriculum in history that gives the student valuable knowledge applicable in law, politics, and citizenship.

A master's degree in history provides a good basis for a career as a researcher for business or government agencies, preservationist or working with archival documents in libraries and museums, writing, or teaching at the college level.

Program Admission

In addition to the University requirements for admission to ULM's Graduate School, all applicants for regular admission to the Master of Arts in History degree program must meet the following criteria:

Applicants who fail to meet the above standards may be admitted on conditional status as recommended by the Graduate History Admission and Curriculum Committee in concert with the Dean of the Graduate School.

Program Prerequisites

A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 18 semester hours of social sciences and 18 semester hours of history. No less than one-half of the graduate program of study must be taken in history courses restricted to graduate students only (5000 level and above.)
