brainThe Department of Psychology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe offers an undergraduate curriculum in Psychology that provides a basic arts and sciences education including courses in all major content areas of Psychology. The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed primarily to provide students with background and skills essential for further professional or graduate study in Psychology. Minimum course hours required: 120. Students who expect to earn the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology must take a written examination in the field of Psychology during the senior year and make a satisfactory score.

The Department of Psychology also offers a Master of Science degree, with concentrations in General Experimental Psychology or Psychometrics.  

Choosing Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior, both animal and human.  It is a very board and diverse discipline that ranges from studies of brain function to studies of behavior.  Psychologists apply the scientific method and research techniques to increase our understanding of learning and behavior. Their research examines both normal and abnormal behavior and addresses emotional and mental problems. 

Psychology provides a knowledge base for understanding human behavior that has wide applications in professions like:

        Public Relations   And more

Opportunities in Psychology

Acquire the skills to collect, analyze and interpret data, and gain experience in statistics and experimental design in order to meet the needs of employers.  Psychology graduates can pursue a variety of career fields because the Psychology program at the College of Education and Human Development provide instruction in four major content areas:
