Collaborative effort at ULM provides Track and Field Meet for over 500 High School Athletes

Over 500 high school track and field athletes representing 18 high schools from Louisiana and Arkansas participated in the Super 1 Relays held Friday, March 12, 2004, at Brown Stadium on the ULM campus.  Hundreds of coaches, students, and parents also attended the event that began mid-afternoon.  The meet, which is co-sponsored by ULM and Super 1, was coordinated by Head Track Coach J.D. Malone and Assistant Coaches Bruce Kritzler and Andy Kokhanovsky.  ULM track officials with assistance from the ULM men and women track teams conducted the events that lasted until almost 9:00 p.m.  The ULM  Track Officials is a volunteer group that includes ULM faculty and staff as well as ULM alumni and local residents.  Faculty members such as  Suzy Seeber, mathematics, David Stokes, graphic services, Linda Tarver, athletics, Dr. Lisa Colvin, kinesiology and Dr. Gary Stringer, curriculum and instruction serve as officials in various capacities.  The Super 1 Relays are another example of how ULM in cooperation with its faculty, alumni, and local businesses impact the community in a positive and significant manner.
