University Planning Council

The University Planning Council (UPC) operates as an advisory group to the senior administration of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. It is chaired by the University President and includes the Provost, vice presidents, and academic deans along with representatives from the Faculty Senate, the Staff Senate, the Student Government Association, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, and the Strategic Resources Allocation Committee.

The Council provides a forum to address issues of interest to the development of the university, seek relevant information related to these issues, and make informed recommendations about the best way to address these issues so that ULM is always improving.

Current Activity

On August 14-15, 2009, the UPC met for a one and one-half day retreat facilitated by Karen Cates, professor of management at Monmouth College and visiting lecturer at the Kellogg School of Management, and Michelle Egan, director of talent development for O’Melveny & Myers, LLP.

An important outcome of the retreat was the recommendation of the Council to form six task forces that will proactively address the following issues of interest to the University:

For each task force, the Council recommended a membership structure, goal statements, basic logistics and milestones, and a time to adjourn.

Further information about each task force, including minutes from meetings and a membership list, can be found through the links at the top of this page.
