I have an English 102 class using the Garnet system this semester.  Having the students do on-line assignments has resulted in greater participation.  More of them are reading the assignments than in a normal class situation.  Their responses on-line have been promising.  As a result of the assignment, their reading and responding, and subsequent discussion in class, the grades on tests are a little higher than those in my traditional class.
