AG FACILITIES The Department of Agriculture is located in the Chemistry and Natural Science Building (CNSB). This modern building contains classrooms, laboratories, scientific equipment, and micro-computers to support the program.ULM agricultural farm facilities include the Morris and Ella Johnson and the Robert Layton Farms. Farm Laboratory experience may be gained at the 500-acre Johnson Farm and the 150 acre Layton Farm, located about four miles east of the campus. Row crops grown on the Johnson Farm include corn, soybeans, wheat, and cotton. The farm houses a large herd of registered Black Angus, Herford, and Red and White Brahmas beef cattle. The cattle herds are continuously being improved through the use of on-farm artificial insemination and embryo transfer. The Layton Farm is used for laboratory exercises, demonstrations, livestock judging contests, and research activities with agronomic crops. Special events are held at the Jim Shipp Memorial Pavilion. |
