Married: Peggy (Bamber) Horton ARTIST STATEMENT I consider myself an artist in clay, working in both stoneware and porcelain. My stoneware pieces retain an earthy, raw quality, while my porcelain has a polished, refined look. My ideas are produced in a series until they run their course or some other idea motivates me. Most pieces have the vessel form, while others are abstract in shape and texture. My intention is not to distinguish between functional or nonfunctional, but convey aesthetic qualities in my work. In recent years, Venetian glass beads and fused dichroic glass have become part of my artistic endeavor. Working with dichroic glass is a lot like working with glaze on pottery. You simply mix various colors of glass together, apply heat and the result is an array of beautiful colors Wayne Horton EDUCATION Advanced Studies at Arrowmont School of Arts And Crafts Gatlingburg, Tennessee (University of Tenn.
