Welcome to the University of Louisiana at Monroe and thank you
for your interest in our e-learning courses! Through these
course offerings, we are striving to meet the needs of
individuals whose busy lifestyles limit their ability to achieve
their educational goals. It is our intent to increase the
number of courses offered electronically, and we have programs
in place to actively foster the development of additional courses.
Our e-learning platforms include the Internet and interactive
video. Internet courses are delivered online and are accessible
24 hours a day. Some course sections may require face-to-face
meetings; check individual listings for details. Interactive
video courses are delivered using a live two-way video network.
These courses are held in convenient locations that make them
more accessible to students who do not live near the ULM campus.
The administration and faculty of ULM want to do everything
possible to ensure the success of all of our students. In light
of the unique nature of electronic learning, we encourage you to
complete a brief self-quiz to see
if e-learning is appropriate for you and consider the results of
that survey as you choose the courses in which you would like to
enroll.
Please examine the information and links below and learn more
about e-learning at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
To take a course, you must first be admitted to The University
of Louisiana at Monroe. General information is available on the
ULM Recruitment &
Admissions web pages, and the
How to
Apply web page focuses on the application process. The
Enrollment
Forms web page allows you to apply for admission on-line,
request an application, or download an application.
If you are planning to enroll for just one course, you may apply
for admission under the Special Non-degree Academic Program
(SNAP). If you are planning to enroll for multiple semesters,
we suggest that you apply for admission as a regular student.
Academic Advising
Regular ULM students will use the normal advising process. The
Student Success Center
(SSC) provides academic advising to students who have
undeclared majors. Students who have declared a major should
contact their
department.
Students enrolling temporarily at ULM for the sole purpose of
taking an e-learning course should contact the course instructor
for advising. Call (318) 342-1000 or 1-800-372-5127 for Campus
Information. Alternately, you can find the instructor's e-mail
address through this e-mail
directory search web page.
Class Descriptions
More detailed course descriptions (including credit hours, instructor name, etc.) are available by searching for ULM courses on the Southern Regional Education Board's Electronic Campus.
Registration for classes is conducted entirely through the
ARROW (Academic Records &
Registration On the Web) system.
Tuition and fees for the
Fall
2007 semester are available as a PDF file.
Other tuition and
fees information is also available.
Financial aid information is available primarily through the
ULM Financial Aid Office web
pages. The
ARROW
system also contains some financial aid links.
Textbooks and information are available through the campus
Warhawk Bookstore web
site. The Warhawk Bookstore can also be reached by phone at
(318) 342-1982 or 1-800-309-6208. Other bookstores may also have
the textbooks for each class.
Resources, services, schedules, and more are available through
the University Library web
pages. The Reference Services phone number is (318) 342-1071.
Technical Requirements
The formal list of basic technical requirements for electronic learning (and distance education) can be found in the
Online
Student Requirements section of the ULM
Electronic Learning Policy. The Online Learning Compatibility Quiz
also mentions these requirements (albeit in a different manner).
Individual courses may specify additional technical requirements.
Please consult the Southern
Regional Education Board's Electronic Campus for more
information regarding specific classes.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe offers Online Graduate
Programs in Gerontology leading to a Master of Arts in
Gerontology or a Certificate in Gerontology. These programs
allow working adults to acquire the education and training they
need to keep pace with the rapidly changing world of gerontology.
Students have the convenience of attending class from their own homes on their own schedules. To be eligible for enrollment either program, students must be admitted both to the graduate school and to the gerontology program.
