| Dr. Jeffrey P. Rush re-joins the Criminal Justice faculty in January 2007 as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Dr. Rush received his Doctorate of Public Administration degree from the University of Alabama. Dr. Rush had previously been employed in the Department of Criminal Justice at ULM but had moved to Virginia College in Birmingham as the head of the Department of Criminal Justice until December 2006. He is actively involved in state, regional, and national organizations. His expertise includes gang and terrorist behavior.

| Mr. Attapol Kuanliang joined the Criminal Justice faculty in January, 2007 as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Mr. Kuanliang is in the process of completing requirements for the Ph.D. in Juvenile Justice at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. He expects to receive the doctorate in August 2007. He received his Master of Arts degree from The University of Louisiana at Monroe.

| Dr. Rob Hanser attended the annual conference of the Asian Association of Policing held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 2 through September 9, 2006. He presented a paper entitled Establishing effective police relations with Asian American populations within mid-sized communities in the United States. He also chaired the opening session of the conference. He is an active member of the editorial board for the journal associated with this organization. September 2006.

| Mr. L. D. Yielding retires: Don Yielding, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, retired effective August 1, 2006. Mr. Yielding came to ULM (then Northeast Louisiana University) in 1974 from the Houston Police Department. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Sam Houston State University. During his 32 years on the Criminal Justice faculty, he assisted many students to obtain employment and in other ways. He started the Annual Criminal Justice Job Fair which has indeed been held annually (and continues to be) since 1983. He also was instrumental in organizing the Criminal Justice Alumni Association and in starting the Criminal Justice Networking System. In addition, he started the Institute of Law Enforcement and directed it until 2005. August 2006.

| Mr. Alton Braddock joins Criminal Justice faculty: Mr. Braddock has joined the faculty on a full-time basis in the Fall 2006 semester. He has been an adjunct instructor in the Department for many years, including most recently in the Spring 2005 semester. He is a retired school teacher and retired from the Louisiana Department of Corrections as a prison administrator. August 2006.

| Mr. William F. Kitchens returns to Criminal Justice faculty for Fall 2006:Upon the retirement of Mr. Yielding, Mr. Kitchens, retired Professor of Criminal Justice (from ULM), has agreed to return to the classroom for the Fall 2006 semester to teach the courses made vacant by Mr. Yielding's retirement. August 2006.

| Dr. Robert Hanser has been appointed Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Criminal Justice. As such, he is the point of contact for most graduate program activity and is responsible to the Department Head for effective coordination of the program. Students and interested persons should address their inquiries regarding the program to Dr. Hanser. August 2006.

| Dr. Robert Hanser assumed the directorship of the Institute of Law Enforcement in 2005 from Mr. L. D. Yielding, who started the ILE in 1991. August 2006.
