's older population is rapidly growing, making gerontology one
of the fastest growing fields today. Research in areas such as
psychology, health care, social work, public policy and pharmaceuticals
are vital to the growing elderly population. Two of every five
people will spend some time in a nursing facility. The U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics notes that health services are one of the
largest industries in the country, with more than 11 million jobs,
including the self-employed.
The
University of Louisiana at Monroe offers a variety of educational
opportunitites in Gerontology for traditional and non-traditional
students, living in town or out of state. The Online M.A. and
Certificate Programs in Gerontology allows working adults to acquire
the education and training they need to keep pace with the rapidly
