Student Profile

The Gerontology student profile honors outstanding Gerontology Graduate or Certificate students. This year the ULM Gerontology Program Honored 3 outstanding Gerontology students. Student Opportunities

Faculty involved with both the traditional and Online Gerontology M.A. and Certificate Programs strive to incorporate a multidisciplinary aspect to coursework and research opportunities at ULM. All 4 colleges and more than 10 departments at ULM are represented by our gerontology faculty. Our faculty and graduate students are actively engaged in advancing the knowledge in the field of gerontology. Some areas of teaching and research interest include: Alzheimer's disease, prescription drugs and the elderly, older workers, housing and the elderly, minority aging, public policy, technology and aging, psychology of aging, economics of aging, substance abuse, HIV, oral histories, nutrition and aging, aging with disabilities and death & dying to name a few.

To be eligible for enrollment in the Online or Traditional M.A. or Certificate in Gerontology programs., students must meet the admission standards to the graduate school and the gerontology program requirements.

Admission to ULM Graduate School

REGULAR STATUS. Applicants may be admitted to the Graduate School on regular status if they have earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution and meets TWO of the following:

  • Minimum GRE (verbal + quantitative) score of 750 or GMAT of 400
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • Minimum formula score of 1875 (GPA * GRE) or 950 (GPA * 200 + GMAT)

Admission to ULM Gerontology Program

REGULAR STATUS. In addition to admission to the ULM Graduate School, applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours of undergraduate and/or graduate combined
  • 900 on the verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE
  • A total of at least 1900 points: Undergraduate GPA*GRE (verbal and quantitative).
