2008 SUMMER LEARN TO SWIM

All classes are taught Monday through Thursday.  For more information on any of the classes, please visit our website at ulm.edu/natatorium or contact ULM Natatorium at 318-342-5315.   Pre-registration is required.

SUMMER SWIM TEAM: (Maximum of 20 SWIMMERS)

Open registration is throughout the summer.  There will be 2 swim meets with the MAC (Monroe Athletic Club). 

Pre-requisite The child must be able to swim 25 yards with rhythmic breathing. 
Cost $150.00 for the first child and an additional $100.00 for each child in the same family
Dates May 27-July 3 (Monday through Friday)

GUARD START (JUNIOR LIFE GUARD): (Must register with Continuing Education) Learn the basic water rescue skills necessary to become a lifeguard, CPR, and first aid.

11-14 years of age

Pre-requisite The child must be able to swim 25 yards with rhythmic breathing. 
Cost $75.00
Dates June 3-26 (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

COMMUNITY LEARN TO SWIM LESSONS (in association with the American Red
Cross. Students must Pre-register at the American Red Cross.  Registration begins on April 22 at 8 am at the American Red Cross.)

Session one: 13-18 years of age
Sessions two and three: 5-12 years of age

LIFEGUARD TRAINING CLASSES (Must register at the American Red Cross)

Times Weekdays times are from 4-8 pm;
Saturdays from 8-4; Sundays from 1-4. (There will not be classes on Monday or Wednesday.)
 

SCUBA (Open to anyone reasonably fit, in good health, and at ease in the water.  This course will prepare you for the open water certification test.  No experience or equipment is necessary.)

Ages

12 and over (children aged 10-11 must be accompanied by a parent)

ULM SUMMER SWIM LEAGUE

The summer program will be held at the ULM Natatorium from June 4 - July 13, Monday through Friday, from 8-9:30 AM The league will focus on having fun while learning and improving the four basic competitive strokes. There will be two local & one out-of-town swim meets. Child must be able to swim 25 yards with your face in the water while rhythmically breathing.

Cost is $150 for one child, $250 for two children and $300 for three children.
Open registration throughout the summer program.

Group swim lessons* are also offered during the year

  • Parent/child aquatic program-ages 6 months to 3 years old
  • Children ages 4-17
  • Adult

*Group lessons are scheduled to begin in May (sign-up begins in April), other swim lessons are available by appointment only

Water Safety Instructors Courses

Other programs have included summer swim league, scuba classes, and lifeguard training classes. Contact Aquatic Services regarding these programs.
