SACS 2009 Reaffirmation
Dear ULM Colleagues,
In 2009, ULM will complete the process reaffirming our accreditation by SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. SACS is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the regional body that accredits educational institutions in this part of the country.
While 2009 may seem far off, the reaffirmation process has already started on campus.
Led by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Stephen Richters and his reaffirmation teams, SACS reaffirmation serves to assure constituents and the public of the quality and integrity of higher education institutions and programs and to help those institutions and programs improve. These outcomes are achieved through rigorous internal and external review processes during which the institution is evaluated against a common set of standards.
A major facet of reaffirmation is participation of all ULM constituents: students, faculty, staff and alumni through the University Survey. I appreciate the input from those who participated in this crucial process, and the University Survey results are now available.
In addition to the University Survey, I encourage you to help ULM with its Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP. Your ideas can be submitted through the QEP Topic Submission Form, located on the QEP Web page, and anyone can submit ideas.
As the reaffirmation process progresses, this Web site will be updated. You may also keep up with the progress of ULM's reaffirmation process via our bi-monthly SACS Reaffirmation Newsletter.
If you have any questions about SACS or ULM's reaffirmation process, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Web page or feel free to contact our SACS 2009 liaisons.
Sincerely,

Dr. James E. Cofer, Sr.
President
