Core Curriculum Requirements    

Like all students at ULM, Sociology majors must complete the general core curriculum as follows AND 33 hours of Sociology coursework.

English Composition: 6 hours

English 1001 Freshman Composition I

English 1002 Freshman Composition II

Humanities: 9 hours

Six hours must be taken as a sequence of two courses in either Literature or History. The other three must be in the other discipline (a student must have at least one course in either the U.S. or World History.

Students taking ENGL 2003 and 2004 (World Lit.), must take either HIST 2001 or 2002 (U.S.).

Student taking ENGL 2005 and 2006 (U.S. Lit.), must take either HIST 111 or 1012 (World).

Two English and one History or two History and one English

       

Fine Arts Electives: 3 hours

Must be selected from one of the following:

ART 1009
ART 2002
DANC 3001 

MUSC 1001
MUSC 1091
THEA 1091

Mathematics: 6 hours

Math 1011 and

Math 1012, 1016, or 1018

Natural/Physical Science 9 hours

Six hours must be from an approved sequence of two courses in either biological or physical sciences. Three hours must be from the other area.
