France and Belgium: Exchange and Summer Programs

ULM in Montpellier. The Department of World Languages offers a two-week summer immersion program in this cosmopolitan southern French city.


Included are forty hours of course work at a certified language institute (three hours ULM credit), lodging with local host families, and excursions.


Scholarships to study at universities in Belgium, France, and Canada are available through the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL).


Summer programs in Belgium are three or four weeks in duration, while the summer immersion program at the Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada lasts five weeks; the James Domengeaux and Lois & John Breaux Scholarships provide support for an entire academic year at the Université Catholique de Paris in France and the Université de Mons-Hainaut in Belgium respectively.  


Study for a semester or academic year in Paris is made possible through an exchange agreement with the Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Echanges Franco-Americains (MICEFA).


By the terms of this accord, students pay normal tuition rates at their home institution for courses taken at the Université de Paris.


French Embassy Teaching Assistantships allow students to teach English in a French school district for one academic year. Heritage Scholarships are available for travel support.
