The National Federation of Press Women recently announced winners in their annual 2009 NFPW Communications Contest, including Keli Jacobi, now a staff writer at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Keli Jacobi, Office of University Relations staff writer, won first and second-place place recognition for science and education news writing. The awards are for achievements during Jacobi’s tenure as a reporter at The (Monroe, La.) News-Star, where she worked before accepting the staff writer position with ULM last October.

NFPW is a nationwide organization of professionals pursuing careers across the communications spectrum, including print and electronic journalism, public relations, advertising, new media, marketing, photography and more.

Members are committed to the highest ethical standards in communications and to protecting First Amendment rights, as well as networking with each other.

The communications awards will be presented at the NFPW Annual Communications Conference in September in San Antonio, Texas.
