ULM professor to discuss collapse of Soviet Union Oct. 25

Dr. Ralph Brown, associate professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will discuss the “Collapse of the Soviet Union” at Lincoln Parish Public Library in Ruston, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25.

The event is free and open to those 18 and older.

Brown said he will speak to visitors about the societal impact of the Cold War, and how the collapse of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics radically changed the world's economic and political environment.

Brown received his B.A. and M.A. in history from James Madison University and earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Tennessee.

Brown has been a professor at ULM for more than seven years.
