Plant Survey

In 1997, Dr. Allen led his graduate students on a survey of the resident flora. The results can be seen on the Herbaceous Plants page, the Vines page, and the Woody Plants page. Please note that the Herbaceous Plants and Woody Plants pages are large and may take longer than most pages to load.

Resident Species

Many of the resident species are native to the area, as shown in the plant survey. However, some species are immigrants, and a number of these immigrants are wetlands species that have been introduced as part of the wetlands project to promote a healthy wetlands ecosystem. The plants that have been intentionally-planted in the wetlands are marked with a blue ribbon (see photo; light blue ribbon along the stem is partially hidden by leaves).

Trail Checklist

Certain plants along the walking trail have been tagged as representative of their species.
