The conference hotel for MALTO 2017 is The Clarion Hotel & Suites and Conference Center in Monroe. Current plans are that the Sunday evening mixer will be held at this facility, as well as a complimentary full-service breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
This hotel is convenient to the School of Pharmacy (see directions below), and also very convenient to the airport if you happen to be flying in.
Please ignore any reviews older than a few months – management has changed, and improvements and renovations have been made and will continue. The hotel management is very interested in serving the MALTO group to the best of their ability, and with knowledge of the nature of the attendees of this conference.
A room block at a substantially discounted rate is being held until May 11th (it may likely still be possible to get a room at the conference rate after this deadline, but this cannot be guaranteed). Standard rooms of different configurations are available at $79 + 14.99% taxes. A few larger rooms should be available at a somewhat higher (but not exorbitant) rate – if interested, please inquire. Be sure to let the hotel know that you are asking for the MALTO Room Block. Our preliminary plans are that the Sunday evening mixer will be held at this hotel beginning at 6:00 p.m., continuing until around 9:00 p.m. We’ll aim to feed you enough that you won’t need to seek a restaurant unless you wish to do so. Registration packets will also be available during this time (these will also be available at the School of Pharmacy on Monday morning).
Although Monroe has a number of hotels, some new since last we hosted, several new large event facilities have also sprung up in recent years, thus occasions when occupancy rates reach ~100% have become more common—waiting until the last minute to secure a room could cause you headaches. We are unaware of any large competing events at this time, but this could change.

Directions to and from the hotel
Getting to the hotel if arriving by car: See the Transportation page.
Monroe Regional Airport to hotel:
As you exit the airport access road (which becomes Central Ave.), turn left (south)
at the traffic signal onto Kansas Lane. Continue about 0.4 miles (cross the railroad),
then turn right (west) onto Millhaven Road. You will stay on this road for 1.4 miles,
and just before you reach the U.S. 165 overpass, turn right and cross the railroad
tracks, then right at the traffic light, at which point you will see the hotel on
your right.
Hotel to airport: Reverse the above directions.
Hotel to ULM School of Pharmacy:
(About 6-8 minutes, depending on traffic): From the hotel, turn right (north) onto
the access road, then access U.S. 165 (north) at any of the available crossroads. Continue
through two traffic lights, and past the DeSiard St. exit (ignore the sign indicating ULM at this exit – the School of Pharmacy is not on the
main campus). Get into the left lane, and turn left at the 2nd traffic signal, which is Northeast Drive to the right, but Ferrand St. once you cross
U.S. 165 (heading west). Cross the railroad tracks, and continue about 1 mile, then
through the traffic light at Lamy lane. Turn right at the first street (Bienville
Drive); the School of Pharmacy will be on your right; park anywhere not marked as
a handicapped spot.
Hotel to ULM Main Campus (if interested):
From the hotel, follow the above directions, but exit at DeSiard St.; then turning
left at any of the next three traffic signals [University Ave. (across from Burger
King), Bayou Dr. (across from K.F.C.), or Warhawk Way] will take you onto various
parts of the campus. If you are interested in the bookstore, use University Ave.,
turn right at the Northeast Drive signal, and the bookstore will be on your right
after the first crosswalk. There should be only a few students around for intersession
(Maymester). Avoid any reserved and handicapped spaces. The library building is
across from the bookstore, and is the largest building in sight (maroon-red roof).
