Students

Welcome traditional, non-traditional, and commuter students to the ULM Library! This page will provide you with a brief overview of the services and resources that are available to support your coursework and research. While you are on campus, you can access any of the Library's electronic resources without logging in (though some resources require the creation of an account before you can use them - check out the Databases by Name List to see which ones). You can find more information about the Library on its main page or through our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Services

If you're wondering how you check out books, study room keys, and other Library materials, it's easy: your student ID card is your Library card. So make sure you get one and keep it with you if you intend to use the Library. There are two computer labs in the Library - one on the first floor and one on the second floor. The first floor lab tends to be noisier than the second floor lab because of the Provisions on Demand (P.O.D.) and the flow of people in and out of the building, so bear that in mind. Printing is available in both labs and wirelessly through a kiosk on the third floor.

If you need help with research or completing an assignment, you can ask one of our Reference Librarians for help! They can be contacted by visiting the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Library. You can also make appointments with the librarians. They can even get help you when you aren't on campus by calling (318) 342-1071 or emailing at reference@ulm.edu. You can also use this form to make contact.

Need access to something that the Library doesn't have? We can borrow it from another library and lend it to you through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. For more on ILL, including how to set up an account, click here.

The second floor was renovated over the last year to incorporate more computers, powered furniture, and collaborative spaces. Come check it out - we're doing the same on the first floor right now!

There are two photocopiers on the first floor and one on the second floor in Media Services. The cost to make copies is .10 per page. Copy machines accept coins and bills ($1-$5). All change is returned in coins. The library staff can not provide change. There is also a fax machine on the first floor. It can be used to send documents, but it is not recommended for receiving.

Resources

In addition to print books, which we still have and are mostly housed on the third and fourth floors, the Library can provide access to a variety of resources. You can search the Catalog on our home page to see what books, journals, and other resources we have. You can use the EBSCO Discovery search box on the home page to search (most of) our electronic resources including the databases, electronic journals, and electronic books.

You can also see what databases we have by checking out the Databases by Name list OR the Databases by Subject list.

If you aren't sure what resources we have for a subject you are taking or your major, please check out our subject Guides page. The guides contain listings of helpful resources for different subjects. That page also contains several helpful tutorials - such as how to do APA or MLA formatting or how to avoid plagiarism - that you should check out if you are having problems with the research process.

And remember: if you need help, just ask at the Circulation Desk! If they can't answer your question, they can connect you with a reference librarian. If you're off-campus and need help, you can call (318) 342-1071 or email at reference@ulm.edu. You can also use the Ask-A-Librarian option (this form) to make contact.

Please remember that ULM is a tobacco/smoke-free campus - vaping is not permitted in any of the buildings, including the Library.
