The Counseling program offers course work leading to a M.S. degree in Counseling with
concentrations in School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Graduating
from this program does not guarantee employment or licensure.
Completion of the School Counseling curriculum leads to recognition by the State of
Louisiana as meeting the course work requirements for licensure as a School Counselor
in the State of Louisiana. Please check your state’s requirements to help you determine
how well ULM’s counseling program matches with the licensing and certification requirements
of your state.
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling curriculum leads to recognition in Louisiana
as meeting the course work requirements for the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
in Louisiana. Please check with your state licensing board to determine how well ULM’s
counseling program’s curriculum matches their requirements. Out of state students
should also check with their state licensing boards to see if there are regulations
in place regarding earning an online counseling degree.
